What should I do? Or what would you do?

Okay, everyone there is a boy at my school, who, apparently fancies me, but I don't fancy him! He's just a friend. Bare in mind that my friends told me this and I don't know whether they are lying or not. But I'm scared that he'll say something... should I avoid him? I defo can't tell him outright that I don't like him. Help?
